MTS Globe Bulgaria Ltd · Old Nessebar harbour

The family catamaran cruise with drinks and lunch

A bus collects you in Sunny Beach, a catamaran takes you out from Old Nessebar harbour for four hours with an all-inclusive bar, a swim stop with snorkelling, lunch after the swim and dolphin watching on the way back. Pick it because children sail free and only the adults pay, which turns an expensive-looking ticket into the cheapest boat on this coast for a family of four.

Family Catamaran Cruise with Drinks & Lunch

About this experience

MTS Globe, one of the big incoming agencies on this coast, runs this as a half day with the transport built in. A bus picks you up at one of 18 points in Sunny Beach and takes about 45 minutes to reach Old Nessebar harbour. At the quay there is a safety briefing and a welcome drink, then the catamaran heads out into the bay. The bar is all-inclusive: beer, white, red and rose wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Lunch comes after the swim stop, and the guide, live and in English, watches for dolphins on the way back.

The price looks steep next to the 4-hour boat trip until you read the age rule: children go free, only adults pay. Two adults and two kids pay for two. The swim stop includes snorkelling for those who want it, the food gets good marks in the reviews, including vegetarian options, and two separate guests use the word immaculate about the boat.

Be honest with yourself about the reviews. The sample is small and mixed: most are glowing, but one two-star review reads "Would not recommend and definitely not worth the money." and a one-star carries no text. The listing warns off anyone prone to seasickness, and one reviewer notes the staff stepping in when children felt unwell. On a calm day it is a lovely afternoon. On a windy one the bay is not flat. The boat does not land in the old town; you see it from the harbour and from the sea.

A safety talk on the quay, a welcome drink, and the bar opens as you cast off.

  3. First 2 hoursOut into the bay

The catamaran sails past the old town walls and out into the Bay of Nessebar. The guide points things out; children find the nets or the bow.

  4. Swim stopAnchor, swim, snorkel

The boat anchors in a bay for swimming and optional snorkelling. Bring swimwear, towels and sunscreen; the listing asks for all three.

  5. After the swimLunch on board

  6. ReturnDolphins, then the bus

The run back along the coast is when dolphins are watched for. At the harbour the bus is waiting for the 45 minutes back to Sunny Beach.

Tips before you book

  • Do the sums with the children's rule: only adults pay. For a couple with two kids this beats every other boat on the coast per head.
  • Pack towels, swimwear and sunscreen in the bag. The listing lists all three as things to bring, and the swim stop is in open water.
  • Seasickness tablets go in an hour before the bus, not on the quay. The bay gets choppy in an afternoon wind.
  • Your own alcohol is not allowed on board, and nor are drugs. The bar covers it anyway.
  • Arrive early at the old town on another day and walk it; the catamaran gives you the view, not the lanes. Our kids guide has the beaches and the aquapark.

Frequently asked questions

Are children really free on the family catamaran?

Yes. The listing states that children are free and only adults pay. It does not print an upper age for a child, so check the booking form when you enter your party.

Where does the family catamaran leave from?

From Old Nessebar harbour, after a 45-minute bus ride from one of 18 pickup points in Sunny Beach. The bus is part of the price and brings you back at the end.

Does it visit the old town?

No. You board at the harbour and sail the bay; the walls and the churches are seen from the water. Add the old town walk or our one-day plan on another day.

Is food included?

Yes: a welcome drink, an all-inclusive bar with beer, wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee, and lunch served after the swim stop. Reviewers mention vegetarian options. Bring your own snacks for small children if they eat early.
